Let's Get Naked!

March 13, 2010.

Day 72.

Here it comes, ladies and gentlemen. Here it comes. I have some news. Ready?

(Drumroll, please…)

I looked at myself in the mirror today…NAKED!

If that statement shocked, disgusted, or offended any readers, feel free to leave now. I’m on a mission of self-love, and I don’t need any Negative Nancys around, stopping my progress.

However, for those of you brave enough to stay, know how important it is to be able to look at oneself as naked as a newborn babe, without feeling one’s gag reflex rising. And I was able to do that. I felt a sense of surprised relief standing there, knowing that, yes, I have some areas to work on, but my body is not disgusting. Looking at the whole of me allowed me to honestly observe and accept myself, warts and all. (No, I do not have warts. I don’t think.) I felt a certain splendiferous freedom in knowing and accepting, that is, until I went to Target and could barely fit into a pair of size 16 khaki pants.

How disheartening.

Just last week, I made it (with some effort) into a pair of size 14 black pants. “What happened?’ I asked myself. In order to not lapse into a complete state of total depression, I resigned myself to the thought that maybe the khakis were made too small. You all know that old excuse (lie) we tell ourselves when our already balloon-sized clothes don’t fit; I went right to that one. But, I guess not working out and eating everything in sight wreaked a bit of havoc. Pfft.

Still, I didn’t leave Target without a few goodies!

Let’s see:  Apparently Maybelline New York had the stuff that I wanted, the stuff that I NEEDED, because I walked away with a majority of trinkets from their Eye Studio line, starting with their Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Brown. I’ve been on the hunt for a sick gel liner for a while now, and although I mistakenly switched Black color I really wanted for the Brown, I can still pair the color I got with a bold green or brown shadow for extra oomph, or maybe I can even use the liner by itself for a subtle day look.

I also picked up an Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Carbon Frost, which boats a star-studded black shadow that co-stars with a marble (hence the name) kaleidoscope of colors with a dominant pink theme. Had to have it.

This is the color duo I got. Gawjus, yes?

And after hearing rave after rave about an oldie-but-goodie, I finally scooped up Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara, or as it says on the package, “America’s #1 Mascara.” Tried it on. Nice.

To round up my beauty shopping spree, I finally got a Milani eye shadow in Shamrock, the color that has haunted my dreams ever since I fell in love with it at first sight while out with my girlfriends about a month ago. It sits, beside me, on my bed, matching my loving gaze as I dote on it’s perfect pigmentation and sparkly shimmer.

See the green in front? That's Shamrock. The color is mine, all mine!

I also got a Studio Tools eyeliner brush, so that I can start practicing my eye art more frequently.

Aaah…I’m so happy with my beauty finds. I’ll update you tomorrow about which color I wore to church.

I now must work out. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to do this:

Although the video doesn’t show the entirety, she does 11 exercises, 50 reps each, for as fast as she can.

Wish me luck.

Day 72.

P.S. For whoever may be reading this, I welcome all comments you may have. Feel free to leave me a note! Also, I cannot post a weigh-in as I am not in possession of a scale at this time. I’ll update as soon as I return to school!
